The Effects of Ethyl Pyruvate on Behavioral and Biochemical Parameters in Immobilization Stress-Induced Mice

Objective: Ethyl pyruvate (EP) is a molecule with antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-apoptotic features. The present study investigates EP's effects on behavioral biochemical alterations induced by immobilization (IM) stress. 
 Methods: In this outcome, 45 male BALB/c mice were separated into five groups [CONT (control), IM, IM+EP, EP, IM+F (fluoxetine)]. IM applied had 6 hours of stress procedure day for week. EP (50 mg/day) fluoxetine (5 to the intraperitoneally. After induction protocol, passive avoidance, open field (OF), forced swimming tests (FST) executed. tests, brain tissues obtained investigations. Results: Immobilization application increased immobility times in FST decreased total distance moved center time OF test. Immobile reduced compared group due learned helplessness. brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), superoxide dismutase, glutathione peroxidase levels, which applications.
 Conclusion: These results show that generates antidepressant-like decreasing oxidation increasing BDNF levels.
